"The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But the prayer of the upright is His delight." (Proverbs 15:8)

Our Former Prayer Request Regarding our 2018 Mission back to Bohol, Philippines, AND THE LORD'S GRACIOUS ANSWER:

OUR TRAVEL EXPERIENCE TO THE PHILIPPINES

On our flight from LAX to Shanghai, China, Webze and I shared the Gospel with a young man sitting next to Webze.  His name is Nehal (I’m not sure of the spelling).  He is originally from India and was on his way to India to hike and visit shrines along the way.  After sharing the Gospel of Christ with him, we challenged him to cry out to God and to read the Bible.

After sharing with Nehal, I was expecting to share the Gospel with the woman next to me, but when I turned, she said, “Good job, Brother” and shook my hand.  Her name is Angel, she is a follower of Christ, and was on her way to northern China with people from her church to minister the Gospel to a region of China where the people likely have not heard the Gospel before.  Angel is originally from China and was not converted until she had finally heard the Gospel for the first time several years ago.  Webze, Angel, and I spent hours sharing, edifying one another, and rejoicing together. We prayed together before we left and went out toward our assigned mission fields.  Oh how Gracious our God is!

On our flight from Shanghai, China, to Cebu, Philippines, by God’s Grace, we were able to share the Gospel of Christ with a young lady from China.  Her name is Yolanda and (if I remember correctly) she had never heard the Gospel before.  She shared with us that in China, the people are taught that there is no God. We shared much Truth with Yolanda, and when we asked her what she thought, she informed us that all of the things that we shared with her were things that she was wondering about (with my poor memory, I do not remember exactly what she said, but something to that affect).  We informed her that she must repent and believe in the Gospel, and we explained more clearly.  She seemed eager and very happy about what we shared with her, and when I asked her if she believed, she informed me that she thinks she believes.

Please pray for Nehal, Angel, and Yolanda.  What precious souls they are.

  • For Webze and I as we prepare for a trip to the Philippines in may.  We have been asked to be in our niece's wedding and for me to preach (the Gospel of Jesus Christ) at our large family reunion while we are there.  I also plan to preach the Gospel in a local Filipino jail, and I hope for opportunities to preach in at least one or two churches and on the streets as much as I am able and as time is allotted.  We also have other important things we hope to accomplish during this short, but long awaited trip.  Please pray that God's Word and Glorious Gospel would be rightly and powerfully proclaimed through the Power of the Holy Spirit and in Grace and Truth.  Pray that the LORD would Greatly Strengthen and Grow His People and that He would Save many of His people, for His Name Sake.  Please also pray that we would remain faithful to our God, at any cost!  THANK YOU - TO THE PRAISE AND THE GLORY OF OUR GREAT GOD AND KING!

TIMELY PRAYER REQUEST - PLEASE PRAY:

The LORD has been incredibly Gracious to us!  Thank you so very much for your prayers.  We were last in the Philippines in 2009, about nine years ago, and have been praying and hoping to return for many years.

Though Webze and I were quickly reminded of how constantly and extremely hot, humid, and very difficult it is in the Philippines (especially without the relief of air-conditioning, and while trying to adjust to the 12 hour time difference), our mission/visit to Bohol, Philippines was an incredibly productive and fruitful one and we thank the LORD for all that He has done.

I was not able to preach in the local Talibon jail as I had planned and hoped to do, but by God's Grace, Webze and I still accomplished most of what we had intended and hoped to accomplish in the Philippines (prior to leaving for the Philippines), and we even had opportunities that we did not anticipate.

We were able to take care of some of our own medical and dental needs while in Bohol, and we were not only able to attend our family reunion and be part of our niece’s wedding as scheduled, I was able to preach the Gospel extensively at the reunion and briefly at the wedding.  I was also asked and privileged to preach from God’s Word at our brother-in-law (Pastor Larry Bacarro’s) church on two sundays while we were there and was invited to preach at another pastor/friend’s church when/if we return again to the Philippines.  The LORD also Graciously granted me the opportunity to open-air preach in four different locations surrounding the island of Bohol.  While preaching for some period of time, many people appeared very responsive to the preaching of the Gospel and the call to repent and believe in the Gospel, and many people eagerly received Gospel tracts as I was preaching, though I repeatedly ran out of tracts.

Perhaps the highlight of our trip was our final visit (for this trip) to Sto. Nino, to visit the children’s outreach which the LORD clearly orchestrated and lead us to begin over one decade ago.  Some of our nieces and family have continued the work there, by God’s Grace, and we were not only able to see and greet some of the children (and parents) who have been there from the beginning of that outreach, but we were able to see and meet new children.  I was also able to preach the Gospel to them and Webze shared and ministered to them as well.

Thank you again, so much, for your prayers, encouragement, and help.  We believe and are confident that we will rejoice together as we one day witness an eternal outcome, for the Glory of God and the souls of His people.  PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR BOHOL AND THE PHILIPPINES.
